Data Management & Privacy
What data does CAAPES collect during assessments?
In CAAPES, each recorded session collects task performance data, including response time, accuracy, and event logs. This data is recorded across three distinct log file types (MOMENTARY, TRACKING, and EVENTS). You can therefore expect each session to generate at least three files that contain complementary information.
No personally identifiable information is collected unless the user voluntarily includes it in their data labels.
What format is the data in?
Data files are in csv. format.
How do I download my CAAPES data?
To make data retrieval after recording a session more manageable, a dedicated directory is created within the CAAPES_Studies folder, located in the CAAPES installation directory. This occurs whenever a new session or study name is entered in the CAAPES user interface.
How is my CAAPES data stored and protected?
All data is stored locally on the host machine unless the user opts to export or transmit it. Users are responsible for securing and backing up their own data.
Will my data be shared with IHMC or any third parties?
No. CAAPES does not transmit data automatically. Data sharing with IHMC or collaborators is entirely at the discretion of the user and only occurs with explicit consent.
How do I interpret the data?
Registered users can access a downloadable Data Dictionary spreadsheet for every version of CAAPES through the My CAAPES profile under “My Downloads”. The Data Dictionary contains field names, definitions, and expected types to aid in user data analysis.
